It’s safe to say that 2018 is turning out to be yet another year of celebration and success for the Artz Centre, with some award-winning accolades and nominations to add to our legacy.
Red Rose Awards:
In January, the Artz Centre was nominated as one of five finalists for the “Not-For-Profit Business of the Year” Award, at the prestigious Red Rose Ceremony. The event was held at the historic Blackpool Winter Gardens, and some of our Artz-founding team members went along to truly celebrate the achievements of the last 6 years of Artz in Skelmersdale.
We may not have come home this year with the Red Rose title, but we were not empty handed. The evening was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the impact of our work, and we were beyond honoured to be recognised alongside some of the finest social businesses across the county.
By April, our contributions to the local arts and culture scene were once again celebrated across the region. This time, at the Social Enterprise Lancashire Network (Sel-Net) Awards; where we were delighted to be nominated along with our fellow Skelmersdale enterprising friends: The Sewing Rooms and the Birchwood Centre.
As nominees in three categories: Small Social Enterprise of the Year, Most Effective Collaboration and Enabling Ability Award, once again – we found ourselves off to Blackpool to celebrate our hard work, dedication and commitment to our local young people and community. This time, we were joined by members of our staff team, two of our oldest peer mentors and several Artz parents for a evening of recognition, celebration and inspiration.
The icing on the cake, of course, was bringing home the “Enabling Ability” Award, that truly epitomises our aspirations and ambition here at Artz: to raise the aspiration of local people of all ages… empowering them to make positive life choices with greater levels of resilience and self-confidence.
