The Artz Centre shone a light on local singer/songwriters this month in our first Live Lounge of the year. Local musicians, both student and non-student alike, were invited down to perform their own set of songs and as always, the audience were treated to a fantastic night of live music from the towns own young people.
This years Live Lounge is part of our OFF THE RECORD project, funded by The Big Lottery Fund, which aims to use the platform of songwriting and music performance to explore the stigmas associated with mental health. Participants of the project have had opportunities to work with skilled composers and lyricists to develop the original work that they shared with friends and family at the Live Lounge.
The next phase of the project will involve inviting all those who performed at Live Lounge into the Artz Centre’s recording studio to record their own work alongside professional sound engineers. This will all result in an original album to showcase the work of these talented musicians.
Check out the video below and listen to some of the incredible artists on show recorded by the Artz Centre.
